9 <p>Blitz provides additional features over and above what's required by the JavaSpaces specification. These features are intended to make life easier for administrators and programmers. They are somewhat experimental and subject to change at this stage. If a particular feature proves popular, the Blitz project will work with Sun to create appropriate standards to facilitate wider adoption/vendor independence.</p>

11 <p>These features are not part of the JavaSpaces specification. In order to preserve compatibility, these additional features are made available to the programmer via separate interfaces as part of the <code>org.dancres.blitz</code> package structure. There is <em>no requirement</em> for programs to use them and, if you choose not to use these interfaces, your code will run against any JavaSpaces implementation (including Blitz).</p>

Should you wish to use LocalSpace for transactional operations, you will need to provide an appropriate <a href="javadocs/org/dancres/blitz/txn/TxnGateway.html">TxnGateway</a> implementation. An example implementation can be found in <code>test/org/dancres/blitz/test/TxnStress.java</code> (found in the source code distribution).</p>

41 <p>The debugger must be enabled by configuring <code>debugPort</code> in the blitz configuration file to a non-zero port number. Once Blitz is up and running, connecting to that port (via <code>telnet</code> for example) will trigger dumping of appropriate information to the console. Note that the port is immediately closed after connection, there is no interactive support.</p>

Blitz provides an in-built TransactionManager which can be used in these cases to improve performance.
